Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outperformed Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the championship lead from his teammate by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, lying 36 points Norris, finished in 17th position as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he lost control at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before rotating through the escape zone, and was lucky to escape with just a minor contact of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn approaching the final corner on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in 19th, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, over half a second behind Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
